TRANSITIONS ACADEMY: Spectacular

Transitions Academy is one of the most well-recognized events in the optical industry. Each year, hundreds of industry professionals attend to participate in professional development. Gary John will once again be staging the event which features a variety of presenters and talent in unique live interactive presentations. The shows will no doubt “light up” the beautiful Grande Lakes Ballroom once again this year.

For over 60 years, Aflac has focused on giving customers the best supplemental insurance experience possible. Gary John is excited to join the team (along with ADM Productions) for their 2024 annual conference, getting three exciting multi-day shows on stage. Highlights include dramatic presentations, awards, a silent auction, a gospel choir, and the fabulous acrobatic basketball troupe: Air Elite Dunkers!

National Leaders Event 2024
(January 2024 – Gaylord Palms, Orlando, FL)

ATI is a nationally recognized rehabilitation provider, specializing in research-based physical therapy, sports medicine, and a variety of specialty therapies. Gary John, working with LI-based ADM Productions, will join this new client in staging their exciting 2024 Leaders Event. Stimulating presentations, Ted Talk” style breakouts and a lavish Oscar-like Awards presentation are on the bill of fare, for this multi-show event!

A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING
(Opened: November 2023 – Wagner College Theatre, NY)

Gary John joined Wagner College Theatre as a Guest Director this past fall. He helmed his third production of this beautiful and tuneful show which celebrates the brilliance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical catalogue in fresh and inventive new ways. The score features some well-known classics, as well as some lesser-known gems. Featuring a simple yet elegant design, onstage musicians, and an enlarged company of talented student performers, the show was a grand night indeed!

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
(Opened: October 2023 – Virginia Stage Company, Norfolk, VA)

Gary John made his VA Stage debut and worked with this incredible company at the beautiful and historic Wells Theatre in downtown Norfolk to bring the classic Bock & Harnick musical to life! The run was extended an additional week due to popular demand and became the highest grossing show in the 45-year history of VSC!

FIDDLER: A MIRACLE OF MIRACLES

“Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles” is the origin story behind one of Broadway’s most beloved and enduring musicals: Fiddler on The Roof. This film opened nationally last August, already winning plaudits across the country and features interviews with: Lyricist Sheldon Harnick, producer Hal Prince, original cast member Austin Pendleton, Broadway figures Lin-Manuel Miranda, Joel Grey, Chaim Topol, and Harvey Fierstein, among many others. Gary John makes an appearance discussing the genius work of director-choreographer Jerome Robbins and is thrilled to once again be a part of this great musical’s legacy.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Gary John will be a guest coach and give theatre workshops for visiting universities through the Growing Studio and the NY division of Actors Connection in conjunction with the students' Senior Class Agent Showcases. In addition, he will repeat these duties and be a Guest Adjudicator for the Florida Thespian Festival in Tampa, Fl.

NEW WORKS
(Current, New York, NY)

Gary John is currently collaborating with playwright and poet Susan Tepper, a Pulitzer Prize nominee to bring her poignant new play "The Crooked Heart" to the stage. An intimate play of 3 characters, they are pursuing a major star to play the role of artist Jackson Pollock in a 2024 production.

He is also currently involved with several completed musical scripts that are in various stages of development: “lift” (McAllister & Fazio); “The Baby Project” (Jaroslow, Feingold & Olling); “The Next Big Thing” (Lowenstein & Bailey). All three are strong scripts/scores with modest cast sizes.
