This site introduces the work of Gary John La Rosa, a creative, skilled professional (SDC) theatrical director/choreographer. As you navigate around, you will find a host of information including a biography, resumes, references, review excerpts, and an extended gallery of production shots and video clips.

Gary John happily works as a director, choreographer or both. He has significant experience in both musical theatre and non-musical work and works in the theatrical, corporate and educational arenas. His endeavors have taken him to four continents and all types of venues, from indoor to outdoor, including proscenium, thrust, and in the round. His training took place in numerous NYC studios and he earned a degree in theatre and dance from UCLA. He brings over 25 years of professional work experience to the table.

Finger Lakes Opera's Artistic Director Gerard Floriano continues his new video-podcast series Behind the Curtain featuring conversation between him and Gary John La Rosa. FLO fans will remember La Rosa’s work as he has directed several productions including I Love a Piano, An Evening with Rodgers and Hammerstein and, of course, the 2018 mainstage production of Die Fledermaus.

Gary John won not one – but two awards! His production of Fiddler on the Roof at Barrington Stage Company (starring Brad Oscar) was nominated in five categories and Gary John won both Best Direction – Large Theatre and Best Choreography – Large Theatre.
