Harmonies, shimmies of Shout fun in Arundel

"No matter, this revue is a delightful tribute to the music of the 1960s by Britain's finest creative talents. While the retrospective show may be most meaningful to those who actually lived through that era, it will surely appeal to those who did not, thanks not only to the songs themselves but to the talent of the five-person cast."

"This performance, however, is one that is engaging and entertaining from start to finish."

"The clever choreography, individually as well as collectively, is due to the skill and imagination of Gary John La Rosa."

"While there are numerous musical highlights in the course of the performance, I would be remiss if I did not mention 'Son of a Preacher Man' sung by Ricker, and 'Don't Sleep in the Subway' sung by Kopp. The 'James Bond' and 'These Boots Are Made for Walking' are certainly outstanding ensemble efforts as is the singing during the song 'Shout.'

"The audience was only too eager in supplying the familiar refrain in 'Downtown' and the opening night crowd stood and applauded the efforts of the cast.' Folks, that's entertainment!"

SHOUT! is an Entertaining, Compelling Voyage of Self-discovery

"Summer stock theater is in full swing this week, with excellent offerings in two of the region's classic venues. Shout! is a jukebox musical that's currently running at Arundel Barn Playhouse. On its surface, Shout! is simply a very clever compilation of 30 songs from the 1960s-era 'British Invasion,' but it's got a superior story line."

"Jukebox musicals are typically tuneful, cute, clever and utterly forgettable. But not always. One of the most interesting and memorable jukebox musicals I've ever seen is Shout!, which is constructed around hit songs from the 1960s-era 'British Invasion.'"

"Arundel Barn Playhouse's current professional production of Shout! is a tuneful, entertaining and compelling voyage of self-discovery that strongly draws audiences into a memorable vicarious experience."

"Shout! succeeds brilliantly. Producing artistic director Adrienne Wilson Grant and stage director Gary John La Rosa have assembled a topnotch professional (non-Equity) cast of five talented and appealing young ladies who perform at a uniformly high level."

"I'm not a big fan of jukebox musicals in general, but Shout! truly moves me. My friends and I lived through the rocking, perilous 1960s, and Shout! gives us a wonderful chance to refresh our memories and reinterpret our experiences."

Colorful Show in Arundel

"The mod musical Shout! has migrated from one stage to the next in Southern New England over recent years but it has never been given the creative treatment it currently enjoys at Arundel Barn Playhouse."

"Director Gary John La Rosa, whose last effort locally was the acclaimed Sound of Music at Ogunquit Playhouse, has mined individual talents here to great effect."

"If you haven't guessed by now, there are no males in this show. None are needed. The five regulars do a lovely job of bringing back songs from the '60s, including 'These Boots Were Made for Walkin' and the toe-tapping 'Those Were the Days.'"

"It's a bright, bountiful and, at times, beautiful production."
